The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia Kuching Sarawak Malaysia issued a Press Release on the murder case of Gafur, a resident of Waringin Village, Suralaga District, East Lombok Regency, NTB dated August 5, 2024.

The points include the following:

  1. An Indonesian man with the initials GF was found dead in a private oil palm plantation, in the Sepupok area, Batu Niah, Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia, on July 29, 2024. It is suspected that the man was a murder victim. Information about the death of the 40-year-old man from East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara was obtained by the Indonesian Consulate General in Kuching from the Miri Regional Police (IPD) Headquarters, Sarawak, on July 31, 2024.

  2. The forensic department of Miri Hospital conducted an autopsy on the victim who previously worked as an undocumented Indonesian Migrant Worker (PMI) on July 31, 2024, and it was discovered that the cause of death was a gunshot to the chest.

  3. As an effort to follow up on information regarding the death of the Indonesian citizen in question, on August 5, 2024, the Indonesian Consulate General in Kuching held a meeting with the Head of the Miri Regional Police, ACP Alexson Naga Anak Chabu, at the Miri IPD office. In the meeting, it was discovered that the shooting incident occurred at around 8 am on July 29, 2024.
