Returning Illegally, Dozens of PMI From NTB were Dumped on an Uninhabited Island After Returning from Malaysia

Working abroad illegally is usually done by prospective Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) who think in a way that means they will get more wages. However, they forget that our country (Indonesia) and other destination countries have regulations. And if you don't go through the right channels, don't use the right rules, the risk of being cheated, tortured, manipulated, or monopolized by certain parties will be quite high.
Returning Illegally, Dozens of PMI From NTB were Dumped on an Uninhabited Island After Returning from Malaysia

adbmi.org ā€“ Dozens of non-procedural Indonesian migrant workers from NTB province were found abandoned on an uninhabited island in Ngenang Village, Batam City, Riau Islands Province. When found, dozens of PMI were soaking wet.

It is strongly suspected that these job seekers were dumped by the Indonesian migrant worker mafia when they returned from Malaysia illegally.

Reporting from various sources, the initial discovery of PMI on an uninhabited island began with a report from Bidin, chairman of RW 02, Ngenang Village, Batam City.

Batam Lantamal IV intelligence assistant, Lt. Col. Joko Santoso, revealed that checks were carried out immediately after receiving reports from residents.

"After arriving, the PMIs were also seen running away into the middle of the forest after seeing the officers," explained Joko Santoso, Tuesday 5/21/2024.

From an in-depth investigation of these cases, around 15 people came from West Nusa Tenggara and 1 from North Sumatra.

Head of the NTB Indonesian Migrant Worker Service Center (BP3MI), Noerman Adiguna, confirmed the incident.

He has also communicated with BP3MI Riau Islands. "We have communicated with the head of BP3MI Kepri," he explained when confirmed.

Regarding the repatriation of the 15 PMI who were dumped on the uninhabited island, Noerman could not confirm yet.

"We can't confirm the time yet, but we are working on it," he said.
