Fleeing from Malaysia through illegal channels, 6 Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) were unprocedurally arrested by RI-Malaysia Civil Service Task Force personnel Yonarhanud 8/MBC on Thursday (14/3/2024).


Reporting from benuanta.co.id. Task Force Commander Yon Arhanud 8/MBC Lt. Col. Arh Iwan Hermaya said the 6 PMIs were secured on the Cross-Provincial Road, Sekaduyan Taka Village, Sei Menggaris District, Nunukan Regency at around 11.20 AM.


"We received information from residents that illegal PMI crossings often occur at this location, either from Indonesia to Malaysia or vice versa from Malaysia to Indonesia," said Iwan to continentanta.co.id, Friday (3/15/2024).


Armed with this information, the personnel then went to the location and found 6 unknown people walking from Malaysia into Indonesia carrying backpacks.


Because they were suspicious, the personnel then carried out an inspection and it was discovered that the 6 people were PMI who had fled Malaysia.


"The claim is that they fled from Malaysia, because the work and wages paid to them were not suitable, so they wanted to return to Indonesia," he explained.


Iwan revealed that 5 of them, namely Agusriadi (26), Sudirman (44), Mulhajin (26), Unayadi (38), Beni Suprianto (25) are residents of Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province. Meanwhile, Muhammad Wahidul Kohar (29) is a resident of Sukamara Regency, Central Kalimantan Province.


Meanwhile, the 6 PMI were then taken to the Gabma Sei Menggaris Post for further examination. In which, they admitted that they entered Malaysia through unofficial channels and had only worked in Malaysia for one month.


"We also checked their belongings but we didn't find anything illegal, so they just went home because they couldn't stand working there," he explained.


From the PMI's hands, 6 Identity Cards (KTP), 6 backpacks containing clothes, 4 wallets and RM cash were seized. 400 and IDR 1.2 million.


He revealed that so far, the Sekaduyan Taka Village Provincial Road does have several rat roads which are unofficial cross-border routes which previously were often used by illegal PMI perpetrators who were going to work in Malaysia or Indonesian citizens who were working in Malaysia and were going to return to Indonesian territory from Malaysia. .


"We will take these PMIs to Makotis and then hand them over to BP3MI Kaltara for further examination," he concluded. (Novita A.K, Nicky Saputra).
