adbmi.org – AM (the alleged victim) fell into the practice of online gambling after being promised a job in Cambodia. He was hired by an online gambling company to be a scammer.

Reporting from Kompas.com, Mistarum, a resident of Mulyorejo village, Silo subdistrict, Jember Regency, East Java asked the government for help so that he could repatriate his son AM.

Mistarum revealed that the child left without his knowledge.

"I was told by a neighbor after he (read – AM) was already out of town," explained Mistarum last June 7 2024.

AM left with 6 colleagues who came from the same sub-district, Silo District, Jember Regency.

He was promised to work in a decent place with an average salary of 8 - 10 million.

"But in fact his salary is only 3 million," explained the mother.

According to Mistarum, AM did not know that he would work as a scammer in an online gambling company in Cambodia. He left without taking care of the documents as per the official procedure for becoming a migrant worker.

Apart from that, AM also felt uneasy because his work was contrary to religious values.

“Sinful work, he is not calm in his work. "I'm also afraid of being caught by the police," explained Mistarum.

Because he didn't feel at home, AM finally resigned and wanted to return to Indonesia.

“Because he was often pressured, my child didn't feel at home. "We are asking for compensation for departure and return costs," said Mistarum.

AM's family was asked to compensate losses amounting to 115 million for three people. However, after tough negotiations, it was agreed that it would be 60 million.

Now Mistarum is asking for help from the government to help repatriate AM children from Mistarum who are indicated to be victims of cross-border human trafficking.
